FAQs

DESTINATION

The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean country that occupies the eastern two-thirds of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola while Haiti occupies the western third. As part of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic has the North Atlantic Ocean lying to its north and the Caribbean Sea to its south.

The Dominican Republic currently observes Atlantic Standard Time, which is sometimes shared with Eastern Standard Time.

The weather is tropical. June is the hottest month with an average temperature of 28°C (82°F) and the coldest is January at 25°C (77°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 10 in August. The wettest month is September with an average of 128mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in August when the average sea temperature is 29°C (84°F).

The Dominican Republic is friendly, welcoming, and the vast majority of visits to the country are trouble-free. But as with anywhere else in the world, being a cautious visitor is always advised. For your safety we discourage our guests from venturing into remote towns on their own.

The Dominican Peso is the legal tender in the Dominican Republic.

We recommend checking the exchange rate before your departure for the most up to date figure.

No, it is not safe to drink tap water in the DR, as it is not purified. Always drink purified or bottled water readily supplied at the resort.

Like in all tropical places, mosquitos are common throughout the country, so the use of mosquito repellent is needed.

If you’re from the US then you won’t require a power converter or an adapter. If your device is 110 volts or is dual voltage but your plug doesn’t fit in a Dominican Republic power outlet, you’ll need an adapter. If your device can’t run on 110 volts and isn’t dual voltage, you’ll also need a power converter to convert the voltage from 110 volts to the correct voltage for your device.

Be sure to pack light airy clothing with a few layering options for cooler evenings. Bring flip flops or sandals along with your favorite beach wear for daytime play.

If you’re looking to get some reps in, we have a fully equipped gym, so if you want to work out during your stay, gym shoes and work out attire is required.
